| Hanley Wood is a publisher of
more than 40 trade publications for residential contractors and remodelers
and commercial contractors. WEATHER GUARD® products are advertised in one of
their most popular magazines, Tools of the Trade. Recently, a research study
was undertaken and sponsored by another Hanley Wood publication, Builder.
The purpose of the research was to provide the editors and advertisers with
a profile of the brands used by builders.
Specific areas of inquiry included:

and average sale price of residential units that respondents’ firms were
involved with building in 2008 |

Respondents’ familiarity with, use of, and opinions about brands in 87
product categories. |
Method
The survey sample of 10,800 was selected
by Hanley Wood and their research vendor Readex, from domestic recipients of
Builder classified as “builder, builder-developer, or general contractor.”
Data was collected via mail survey from September 22 to November 5, 2008.
The sample represented 107,154 recipients at the time of selection, and
closed with 3,417 usable responses—a 32% response rate.One of the questions
asked was: “How would you rate the QUALITY of each brand you are familiar
with”?For the Truck Accessories category, WEATHER GUARD was rated the #1
brand for this attribute! The results for the top 3 brands, using a 5-point
scale, are shown below. |
